Congratulations to Anna Ding 13E2 on achieving her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. In the Gold award, participants are required to undertake a service, develop a skill, and participate in a physical recreation activity each of which must be completed over a period of 12 months. At the Gold level, a 5th section is added which is the residential project. This is where a participant undertakes a purposeful activity away from home for five consecutive days in the company of other people outside of school, clubs, or work.
Anna started her Duke of Edinburgh Award journey in 2021. Over the last four years, she has learned to persevere through challenging situations and develop her leadership skills.
Anna has completed several different activities including golf, taekwondo and playing piano. She has also given back to the community through her church leadership, the five days she spent volunteering on Kawau Island with a group of people she did not know and assisting in a Girl Guide unit.
Over the last four years, Anna has tackled challenges outside her comfort zone. When she started silver, she was reluctant to take part in kayaking. But when it came to her gold journey, kayaking was her first choice. For Anna, this was just one of the highlights of the award.
