After your application has been accepted, we will create an invoice specifically for you. The invoice will specify all of the costs for your stay, including tuition, accommodation, insurance etc., and contains everything you need to know about making the payment.
There are some additional costs that you may encounter which you can view below.

1 Tuition fee includes: school textbooks on loan, ESOL tuition if required, and initial stationery pack.
2 The Administration Fee is payable on enrolment/re-enrolment. It is non-refundable.
3 Homestay fees must be paid in full in advance to Botany Downs Secondary College. This payment can be used as Proof of Funds if required for visa application. Weekly homestay fee includes: accommodation and meals with homestay family. Reasonable use of power, water, internet connection and other utilities.
4 Medical and travel insurance is compulsory for the duration of the student’s course. It can be arranged through the school with Unicare Insurance.

Laptop Students will require a laptop each day for all subjects. Tablets are not recommended due to their reduced functionality. |
Stationery An initial stationery pack of basic exercise books/files is provided to international students as part of their tuition fee, but additional stationery may be required depending on chosen subjects. Costs may be approximately $100 – $150 per year. Mathematics students in Years 12 and 13 are required to use a scientific calculator. |
Subject fees Some practical subjects have a charge for materials or workbooks used. |
Outdoor Education fees $1,000 (full year), $750 (semester), $500 (1 term). |
Exam fees Entry fees for NCEA Levels 2 to 3 (Years 12-13) of $383.30 must be paid where necessary. |
Academic competitions Students will have the opportunity to enter national competitions. Typically, these are in Mathematics, Science, English and Chemistry. These competitions have their own entry fees. |
School trips Some costs may apply for day field trips to art galleries, historic sites etc. |
School uniform Approximately $350 to $400 (excluding footwear). This is available from the uniform shop on site at school. |
School camps Some subjects have extended camps as part of their fieldwork. Costs will vary. |
Textbooks Supplied on loan free of charge, but there will be a replacement charge if books are lost or damaged. |
ID cards Student ID cards are available for $12.50. |
Homestay moves If it is determined that a student would be more suited to another homestay family environment, there is no charge if it is the first move. Subsequent moves at the request of the student/parents where the host family have met requirements will incur a fee of $200. |
Airport meeting and farewell Collection and drop-off at Auckland International Airport for new students will be arranged by the school. Any applicable fees will be communicated in advance. Returning students are required to make their own arrangements. |
Botany Downs Secondary College has a Fee Protection policy to safeguard the fees paid by International Students, in the unlikely event that the school may not be able to commence or continue to deliver tuition to the international student.
The School Board guarantees to hold in reserve sufficient funds to meet the requirements of any refund in these circumstances.
